Join Church’s Ministry of Healing:Ireland for Our Annual Gift Day and Service of Thanksgiving, Wholeness, and Healing!

CMH:I warmly invites you to our annual Service of Thanksgiving, Wholeness, and Healing at Christ Church in Bray, Co. Wicklow, on October 20, 2024, at 3 PM. We are delighted to welcome the Rt Rev Patrick Rooke as our preacher. Many of you may know Patrick from his tenure as Bishop of the Diocese of Tuam, Killala, and Achonry, as well as his leadership in the Bishops’ Appeal Advisory Committee and as a former Chair of CMH:I.

This service promises to be a gentle and uplifting experience for all. We invite you to come and embrace God’s healing love in your life. If you’d like to prepare, the liturgy is available in the Book of Common Prayer and online via https://ministryofhealing.ie/text-of-service-of-celebration-of-wholeness-and-healing/

Whether you seek healing for yourself, for someone you care about, or simply wish to bask in God’s presence alongside a supportive community, this service is for you. Our Ministry Leader, Lydia Monds, will guide us through mindful intercessions, and our dedicated prayer ministers will be available for personal prayer.

Everyone is welcome! Ample parking is available at the church. And don’t miss out on the chance to chat over refreshments after the service. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at hello@ministryofhealing.ie.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Postal sign-up to our newsletter

We know that not everyone uses email, or social media, so we have created a sign-up sheet for anyone who would like to get occasional updates from us by post. We’ll have this form at our diocesan synods and other events so that those who aren’t online will be able to sign up – but if anyone reading this knows of someone who might be interested, you can download the form here, print it, and give it to them to fill out and return to us: postal sign-up sheet

Bookings now open for Advent Retreat 2024

The Church’s Ministry of Healing is delighted to announce this year’s Advent Retreat, at the request of the Commission on Ministry. The Pilgrim’s Path in the World: Journeying with God in Advent will run from the evening of Friday 15 November to lunchtime Sunday 17 Nov in Mount St Anne’s retreat centre, Co. Laois. The retreat will be led by Rev Canon Alistair Graham, with CMH:I facilitating creative responses to Alistair’s sessions through a series of art stations.

The Commission on Ministry has been running this annual retreat for years and it is always a richly inspiring and gently restorative weekend. If you are anxious, lonely, overwhelmed, tired, or just seeking time away from your everyday routine to listen to God’s voice and to rest in His presence, then the retreat is for you. Places are limited and are on a first come, first served basis, so do get in touch at hello@ministryofhealing.ie to find out more and book a place.

Alistair’s chosen topics for the sessions this year are wonderful – “reading the map” and “the scent of roses” are just two of the beautiful titles. Many people know Alistair from his parish ministry in Mullingar, in the Diocese of Meath and Kildare, and his wonderful work with a youth initiative on climate change, ‘Lighten Our Darkness By Numbers’. For those who don’t, his prayerful and gentle retreat will be a transformative experience that shouldn’t be missed.

Where to Find the Text of A Service of Celebration of Wholeness and Healing

We are often asked about Word or PDF versions of the BCP’s service of A Celebration of Wholeness and Healing by parishes or clergy. Both versions of the text are available to download from the Church of Ireland website, as well as, of course, being in the Book of Common Prayer itself. If you go to https://www.ireland.anglican.org/prayer-worship/book-of-common-prayer/2004-texts and scroll down about two-thirds of the page, you’ll see the option to download version 1 and version 2 of the service. Version 1 is the PDF and Version 2 is the Word document. If you’d like to buy a BCP, you may do so from the Church of Ireland bookstore: https://store.ireland.anglican.org/store/product/164/book-of-common-prayer-desk-edition

Quiet day in Ballina

We are thrilled to have been invited to lead this quiet day in Ballina with Ballina Churches Together. It will be a restful, restorative, day of reflecting on Psalm 23, and there will be time for creative responses and contemplative prayer. Please pray for Lydia as she prepares to lead the day, and for all who minister in the parish, and all who will attend.

A reflection on wilderness places, and meditative prayer

As we follow the journey to the cross, Jesus has left the wilderness. But for many people, the wilderness place in their lives continues.
Here is a reflection, meditation and Bible Study facilitated by CMHI and NBSI exploring the theme of wilderness, with some interesting findings!
Passcode: 3a@i6#zG
Lydia says: It’s 1 hour and 20 minutes long, but I would encourage you to carve out some time to listen and rest and wonder about God’s love and provision in the wilderness places.

Under the Tree is back – March 22nd at lunchtime!

We are thrilled to let you know that Under the Tree is back, for one day only!

Join us on Friday 22nd for a lunchtime pause to reconnect with nature, self, others and God, who holds it all together in His hands.

Location: The old orchard & the chapel, 96 Rathmines Road Upper, D06 Y684 Dublin 6

At Under the Tree we come together to nourish body, mind, soul & relationship. We take an intentional pause to eat, to rest, to notice the beauty of nature, to laugh, to wonder and to remember the gift of our breath and of the present moment. In this pause, we learn more about who we are and whose we are.

The session takes place outdoors in a garden space and includes mindful and meditative practices to support us to be in the moment and and an interactive Bible study that creates a safe space to wonder about who God is and who we are in His eyes.

In this session people will be invited to bring a small lunch and a hot drink. Some other foods will be prepared together as part of the session.

People are invited to bring a camping chair, a throw for your legs and a Bible and notebook (but we have spare chairs, throws and Bibles if you need them – just get in touch lydia.cmhi@gmail.com)

The sessions are facilitated by Dr Julie McKinley of the National Bible Society of Ireland and Lydia Monds of the Ministry of Healing: Ireland.

“Finding God in the In-Between Places”

We are delighted to announce that Lydia is facilitating the Dublin & Glendalough Ministry of Healing Springtime Quiet Day this year!

It’s called “Finding God in the in-between places,” and takes place on March 2nd, 10.30am – 3pm in Newcastle parish centre, Church Lane, Newcastle, Co. Wicklow, A63 X782. The Quiet Day will be a gentle, reflective and experiential time to intentionally rest in the Presence of God.

We all experience times of living between an ending and a ‘not yet’, …like tentative new Spring shoots emerging from the stagnancy and decay of Winter. How can we hold such endings and new beginnings together? Most importantly, how can we invite God to hold these de-stabilising times of endings and beginnings, and in-between spaces, with His compassion and healing?

Closing with Service of Holy Communion during which prayer ministry will be offered
Tea/coffee/soup provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
Register your interest by emailing Jeanne: healing.dgdc@gmail.com
No charge. Donations welcome
